Hosting A Wine Tasting without Breaking the Bank

As a realtor, one of the more entertaining ways I like to reward my current clients and obtain new ones is by hosting wine tastings. I typically host one wine party a month and try to keep the themes fresh and the cost down. I have found that there are several ways to do this.

wine tastingOne of the more obvious ways to be cost effective is to limit your wines to specific regions of the world. While a French Bordeaux party would set you back a large chunk of change, wines from Australia, Chile, Argentina and New Zealand have so many affordable and delicious offerings. Last month, I had a Reds Down Under party and managed to spend around $10 a bottle for some very tasty shiraz and cabs. Likewise a summertime party featuring Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand can be done quite affordably.

What About Non Alcoholic Wine?

There are plenty of us who enjoy the taste of wine and perhaps even like to have it around the home, but it is not always appropriate to serve only alcohol at our get-togethers. For that reason, you may want to include some non alcoholic wine in order to accommodate those that enjoy having wine with dinner but for one reason or another prefer not to drink alcohol.

Who Drinks Non Alcoholic Wine

Lots of people including pregnant women, designated drivers, and folks under certain types of medical restrictions are delighted to find an alcohol-free alternative. There are also a lot of people who just don’t like the taste of alcohol or its after affects. Given that there is a tiny bit of alcohol left after the alcohol-free wine is distilled, it is not a great choice for people who abstain for religious reasons.

People use wine with a variety of different foods. Not only does it taste good on its own, it helps to accentuate the taste of those foods. During a single meal, a person who really enjoyed their wine could have a small glass with the appetizer, a complimentary wine with the meal itself and a dessert wine to top off the experience.
